Rob Holmes, Founder + Chief Strategist

Rob founded GLP in 2008 with the simple goal of building a unique and successful production and marketing company committed to award-winning authentic storytelling on important global issues. Rob has a diverse background in multi-media production, storytelling, conservation, tourism, and entrepreneurship. Prior to GLP, Rob has worked with leading organizations, including The Nature Conservancy, Appalachian Mountain Club, Woodland Park Zoo, Trails.com, and REI. An award-winning photographer, Rob has worked, studied, and traveled across 80+ countries. When he has time, Rob loves the outdoors, trail running, woodworking, and anything media. Rob received a BA from Hobart College in Wildlife Management and an MBA from the University of Washington in International Business, Marketing, and Environmental Management.

Matt Weatherly, Production Supervisor

Matt is responsible for supervising the technical production aspects of GLP’s work, and also manages the post production process. Matt is a dedicated video editor in the office, while balancing sound, camera, and drone pilot duties in the field. He’s worked in the film and video production field for over 25 years across all sorts of different projects, including feature films, nonprofit video storytelling, and corporate communications. Matt grew up in Tennessee, spent 15 years in Colorado, and now resides in North Carolina with his wife, two kids, and a constantly snoring French bulldog.

Erika Piik, Brand Strategist

Erika brings to the table a long history of problem solving, strategy and direction in marketing projects. She has directed projects ranging from independent client campaigns to corporate identity and communications programs. Motivated by the challenge of marketing strategy and problem solving, she has served as Director of Marketing for multiple brands, developing targeted content marketing strategies which result in loyal customers. Wearing multiple hats, she worked with brand teams to oversee showroom & trade show booth design, launch events, and social media channels, and worked directly with retail partners to create sales driven marketing programs. When not trying to solve marketing problems creatively, Erika can be found outside with a pair of binoculars seeking the next bird for her life list.

Nicole Melancon, Content Editor

Nicole is a freelance travel writer, content creator, and digital strategist with a passion for sustainable travel and storytelling that began after a life-changing trip to Nepal in 2010. The plight of the people she met compelled her to join a growing movement of dedicated journalists, content creators, and humanitarians striving to raise awareness, funds, and impact change fueled by the collective power of our online presence and voice. For the past 14 years, Nicole has worked with a variety of nonprofits and social impact organizations sharing their stories on her blog which focuses on sustainable, adventure travel and social good. She recently dove into freelance journalism and has been published in National Geographic, BBC, Toronto Star, and more.

Marissa Volkman, Project Manager

Marissa is a dedicated tourism professional with a passion for sustainable development in emerging destinations. Her background ranges from destination development and marketing to on-the-ground technical assistance and travel writing. Having lived and worked across three continents, including experiences supporting a USAID tourism project in Tunisia, a community-based non-profit in Germany, and a National Park Service project in the United States, Marissa has gained a nuanced understanding of the industry that fuels her advocacy for responsible tourism practices. Outside of her professional endeavors, she finds joy in learning languages and exploring the world as a conscious and sustainable traveler.

Jake Belvin, Director of Photography

Jake is an experienced storyteller, director of photography, and photographer working in nonprofit, corporate, commercial, advertising, and tourism spaces. He's been a photography and video production business owner since 2012 and worked as the Head of Video Production at The Lion Project in Denver from 2020-2023. Jake works directly with Matt on GLP’s film production team, serving as director of photography for GLP’s global video work.

Mel Barbour, Photographer + Marketing Associate

Mel is an adventurous spirit with a passion for photography, travel, and anything outdoors. With experience in social media marketing, content creation, and brand storytelling, Mel brings a keen eye and a creative mindset to their work. They are excited to bring their enthusiasm for sustainable travel to a company that shares their values. In their role at GLP, Mel is committed to ensuring that all projects run smoothly and efficiently by providing administrative and marketing support to the team. Mel is also a skilled photographer and content creator based in Oregon, and when not at work, they enjoy spending time outdoors rock climbing, traveling with their partner and two dogs, exploring new places, riding their vintage Honda motorcycle, and finding inspiration for their next great shot.

Doren Wharton, Public Relations Specialist

Dorene is a seasoned Marketing Communications expert with 20+ years of experience helping tourism and climate-conscious brands connect authentically, grow responsibly, & thrive through purpose-driven strategies. As a member of the GLP team, she leverages her media & public relations skills to amplify our clients' stories and elevate their visibility.  Her insatiable curiosity and adventurous spirit have propelled her to work and live in 16 countries to date, working across time zones and cultures. Dorene recently completed the Climatebase Fellowship, an intensive, hands-on climate education program to give climate-focused companies the powerful voice they deserve and the tools to reach their sustainability and impact goals. When not transforming brand narratives, you'll find her gliding on a paddleboard, conquering mountain trails, or running her next race somewhere in the world.
